Mexican Hat Entre Server Australian Pottery Lorrant Studio (Dyson) 1940’s
RARE EARLY JUNE DYSON PIECE – 22cmD 11cmH 765 grams – Condition is perfect but for some light crazing which is quite a thing with something this old. Assume it was never used. The inscribed mark on the bottom was quite perplexing at first, finally noticed a tiny cross to the t which gave us Lorrant which seems to be a mark used by June Dyson in the 1940’s before she started her Dyson Studio mark. It’s certainly a form we havn’t come across before. A large Mexican hat form, holes for toothpicks on the top & a raised edge dish for extra nibbles. Obviously wheel turned, pleasing shape, size glaze & colour. Definitely has a feeling of age & I don’t doubt it’s pre 1950.
