vintage rathjen australian pottery table lamp with original fitting

here’s another… this one 16cm tall pottery base 24.5cm with fitting 32cm with shade
rathjen pottery is the very interesting australian pottery of henning rathjen active in the 50’s and 60’s.. now attracting a lot of interest from australian pottery collectors, especially the modernist designs.
this one a more traditional motif of crisply moulded daisies & leaves with deeply incised details. the glaze is deeply textured, very typical of rathjen. matt off white glaze, original early plastic fitting (sometimes called bakelite) in art deco form. excellent quality little lamp from this pottery designer. The photo without shade shows truer colour.
